Just DANCE
NOTTINGHAM
somatic Ecstatic dance IN NOTTINGHAM.
Come on a dance journey which brings you into the aliveness of your body, whilst allowing you the freedom to express yourself and dance however you want.
What to expect
Just Dance Nottingham is a fortnightly sober rave where you get to have a boogie in a safe and inclusive space. This ecstatic dance in Nottingham is not about performance or perfection, but rather connecting with your body, breath and experience so you can express yourself freely.
Similar to Gabrielle Roth’s 5-Rhythms, you may move through a range of sensations, energies and emotions. In some dances, you may feel ecstatic and joyful. At other times you may find yourself moving through anger, frustration, sadness or boredom. All of this is part of the experience. If you want to two-step or lie down and listen to the music the whole way through, that’s fine. There is no right or wrong way to move or feel here.
Each session will begin with meditation and somatic practices designed to help you settle into your body and connect to stillness in motion. After this grounding phase, the music leads the way and you are invited to move however feels right for you, from quiet or subtle motion to full free dance.
